The Council on Aging offices and the town’s senior center are located at 16 Lancaster County Road. To participate in classes, events, or programs listed here—or to ask questions about any COA service—call 978-456-4120.

The COA is looking for volunteers at the front desk to welcome visitors. The hours are generally 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. To sign up, call or email dthompson@harvard-ma.gov or lrosen@harvard-ma.gov.


Donations for Household Goods in Acton are being sought through Nov. 30. Support neighbors in need with cooking utensils, dishes, blankets, appliances, and other items. Call before bringing items to the COA.


Fuel assistance applications are now being accepted. Gross income limits are $45,392 for a household of one and $59,359 for a household of two. The town also offers HEAT (Harvard Energy Assistance Team) financial help. Call to learn more.


Quilts of Valor. Active military members and vets: Call before Nov. 7 to take part in a ceremony with comforting and healing quilts made by volunteers.


Chair yoga starts Tuesday, Nov. 7, and continues every Tuesday. Stretch, breathe, and connect to yourself. No charge for the first month.


Odds and ends tour of Massachusetts curiosities, Wednesday, Nov. 8, 9:30 a.m. With stops at Ponyhenge in Lincoln, the Winnie the Pooh house, Knight’s tomb, and Ship Stone in Westford. Lunch at Burton’s Grill. $5 van fee; some walking required.


Memory Cafe starts Wednesday, Nov. 8, from 10:30 a.m. to noon. This is a welcoming place for those with forgetfulness or other mental changes, with refreshments and familiar old tunes. The cafe will meet the second Wednesday of each month.


Learn about the Loaves & Fishes food pantry. Thursday, Nov. 9, at noon. Lunch and learn presentation.


Bingo. Thursday, Nov. 9, 10:30 a.m. Free.


Grief support group. Monday, Nov. 13, 2 p.m. A safe place to share experiences and learn about the grieving process.


Be a good ancestor by leaving something behind for those researching family history who want to know more about you. Learn how Tuesday, Nov. 14, at 1 p.m.


Thanksgiving lunch. Wednesday, Nov. 15, noon. Sign up by Nov. 9.


African journey. On Tuesday, Nov. 21, at 1 p.m., former town resident Darcy Robinson will discuss her trip to Tanzania, including photos of giraffes, elephants, wildebeest, and white rhinos.


Reiki with Rama. Reiki master Rama Putcha will offer a free 30-minute session Wednesday, Nov. 29, from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.


Podiatrist Dr. Alissa Kuizinas will trim nails and treat corns and calluses Friday, Dec. 1, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. $40 for a 15-minute appointment.


A COVID vaccine clinic (Pfizer) will be offered Tuesday, Dec. 5, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Call for an appointment.


Help with computers. Adam and Doug are available for one-on-one computer training or anything related to computers or technology. Call for an appointment on Tuesdays and Fridays, or browse through their online computer resource center at sites.google.com/view/hcoa-lab.


COA van guidelines. Fees for the use of the van vary according to destination; payment in exact change is expected at the time of a ride. To schedule a ride, call the COA; 48 hours’ notice is requested. The van is disinfected daily and between riders. When there are four or more riders, masks are required.

The COA is looking for part-time drivers.


Fitness classes. Fitness classes are offered online via Zoom and in person.

  • Aerobics and weight-strengthening: Mondays and Wednesdays, 9 to 10 a.m., via Zoom. $36 per 12-class session.
  • Line dancing: Mondays, 10:15 a.m. via Zoom. $4 per class.
  • Zumba gold: Tuesdays, 6:30 p.m. $5 per class. At the Harvard Senior Center.
  • Yoga for everybody: Tuesdays, 9:30 a.m. in person at the Congregational Church, 5 Still River Road, and via Zoom. $48 per six-week session; $10 for drop-ins. All in-person attendees must show proof of vaccination.
  • Tai chi: Thursdays, 9 a.m. at the senior center. $25/month, $7/class.

  • Men’s coffee: Wednesdays, 9 a.m.
  • Women’s coffee: Fridays, 10 a.m.
  • Mahjong: Thursdays, 1 p.m.
  • Fiber arts and knitting: Thursdays, 1 p.m.
  • Social hour for singles, Tuesdays, 1:15 p.m.
  • Afternoon bridge, Wednesdays, 12:30 p.m.
  • Men’s bridge: Wednesdays, 7:30 p.m.
  • Grocery shopping: The van leaves at 10:30 a.m. on Fridays for Market Basket in Littleton. $2 per person. Call to reserve a seat.
