Louis S. “Bud” Skinner, 75, of Land O’Lakes, Florida, died suddenly Oct. 16, 2023. Lou was born June 30, 1948, and spent his childhood in Dover, Massachusetts. He attended middle school at Cardigan Mountain School in New Hampshire, which was followed by Dover-Sherborn High School where he graduated in 1967. He joined his father’s company, Wallboard Construction, and worked there for many years before retiring. In 1980, he married Johanna (Jopie) Skinner, and resided in Harvard. After retiring, Lou volunteered on the Harvard Ambulance Squad for many years. He and Johanna started splitting their time between Florida and Massachusetts, eventually settling in Wilderness Preserve, Land O’Lakes, Florida.
Lou was a familiar sight in the Wilderness neighborhood walking his dog every day and chatting with all the neighbors. He spent much time playing golf and participated in several golf leagues. Lou was always a big fan of the Three Stooges and particularly enjoyed watching their “Swingin’ the Alphabet” song. Classic cars were his passion, with his last one being a ’66 Chevrolet Chevelle.
Lou is survived by his wife of 43 years, Johanna Skinner, as well as his two stepchildren: Carolena McCauley and her husband, Robert; and Rolf vandeVaart and his wife, Charlene. He is also survived by his three grandchildren: Kevin McCauley, Elly vandeVaart, and Sarah vandeVaart. There are no services planned.
