Daylight saving time ends Sunday, Nov. 5, at 2 a.m. Set your clocks back by an hour and change the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.
Shuttle service begins
The MART (Montachusett Regional Transit Authority) bus commuter shuttle connecting Harvard to Boston via the MBTA station in Littleton has begun operation. Visit tinyurl.com/msrc3dxn to view the schedule.
Turkey raffle
The Fire Department turkey raffle takes place Friday, Nov. 10, at 7 p.m. at the center fire station, 13 Ayer Road.
DevensConnect to meet
DevensConnect, a community-based group of Devens residents focused on future jurisdiction, will host a meeting Saturday, Nov. 11, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Bob Eisengrein Community Center, 100 Sherman Ave. This is an opportunity for Devens residents to meet with neighbors and learn more about the future governance of Devens. Harvard Police happenings
- HPD patches for veterans. During the month of November, officers are wearing patches to honor those who have served in the military. The patches are available for $10; all proceeds will be donated to the community center at Clear Path for Veterans New England.
- Meet Harvard’s new police assistance dog. The town’s new assistance dog will be at the Harvard Senior Center, 16 Lancaster County Road, Monday, Nov. 20. from 1 to 3 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.
Drug takeback
The Harvard Police Department accepted 146 pounds of dry unused medications in its recent drug takeback. Since the 2013 start of the department’s participation in the program, it has collected 1,496 pounds of medication that was not flushed away or put into the trash. The department will take back pills only; it cannot accept aerosol cans, EpiPens or other auto injectors, inhalers, liquids, medications from businesses or clinics, or needles and sharps.

Harvard Lions’ new website
Learn about the upcoming citrus fruit sale and other events at the Harvard Lions new website at https://e-clubhouse.org/sites/harvardma/. Preorder online now to have fruit delivered starting Nov. 18. Starting that weekend, Lions will be around town selling grapefruit and oranges on cash and carry weekends; 20 lb. boxes cost $35.
Honor our vets
There will be a Veterans Day ceremony, Saturday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m. on the Common. The featured guest speaker will be retired Marine Col. Jim Wilson, and a wreath will be placed at the flagpole. The timing of the event marks the armistice ending World War I, which took effect on Nov. 11, 1918, at 11 a.m.
Loaves & Fishes food pantry
This food pantry, located at 234 Barnum Road, Devens, offers drive-thru access for those needing help with groceries. Hours are first Tuesday of the month, 5 to 7 p.m., and Wednesdays, Fridays, and third Saturday, 9 a.m. to noon. Upcoming dates are Nov. 3, 7, 8, 10, 15, 18, 22, and 29.
