A thank-you for establishing a school zone at Immaculate Heart of Mary School

September 22, 2023

Students and staff at Immaculate Heart of Mary School feel much safer now that their crossing of Still River Road is within an official school zone. Thanks to Police Chief James Babu there are now two state-of-the-art flashing lights as you approach the crossing from either way.

Earlier this year the chief, out of concern for the safety of the students, applied to the state for a grant to purchase the signs. The state responded generously with the funds and the signs were installed and put into working condition the day before the opening of school.

With traffic steadily increasing, they are greatly needed to cut down unsafe speeds as the students cross the road multiple times during the day, going between the grammar school, chapel, and the high school
(MacIsaac Hall). School authorities will still insist that the younger grades don’t cross unsupervised.

The school extends gratitude and special thanks to Chief Babu, his staff, and all who in one way or another continue to care for the safety and well-being of the community.
