In the past week, police made six motor vehicle stops, four resulting in verbal warnings, one in a written warning, and one in a civil citation, which carries a fine. Police also made one well-being check, responded to two false burglar alarms, and checked on one downed tree branch and two reports of disabled motor vehicles.
The Ambulance Service responded to 10 calls and transported six patients to the hospital, two with Advanced Life Support services on board. There was one motor vehicle accident but no lift assists.
Tuesday, Aug. 8
At 7:15 p.m. a Cove Road resident came to the police station with suspicions about an unexpected package; it turned out to be an item ordered from Amazon.
Wednesday, Aug. 9
At 8:10 a.m. a caller reported a dead turtle on Mass. Ave. and the DPW was asked to remove it. At 9:11 a.m. police were advised of a rescue drill to be held at Bare Hill Pond that evening. At 3:25 p.m. an Old Littleton Road resident complained about an unfamiliar car parked on the resident’s property; but the car was neither on the property nor parked in a hazardous location.
Thursday, Aug. 10
At 9:09 a.m. someone reported a person with a camera on a pole walking around the Pinnacle Road neighborhood, but the would-be photographer was gone when police arrived. At 11:13 a.m. a Littleton County Road resident reported the theft of some paving bricks.
Friday, Aug. 11
At 6 p.m. someone flagged down an officer on Mass. Ave. to say a car had been driven erratically in the area. At 8 p.m. an officer saw five youths trespassing on Fruitlands property and warned them off. At 8:44 p.m. Littleton police asked Harvard officers for backup at an incident involving a machete. At 10:24 p.m. a caller reported hearing gunshots near Prospect Hill Road, but all was quiet when police arrived. At 10:49 p.m. an officer checked on a group of people on Depot Road who were stargazing with a telescope.
Saturday, Aug. 12
At 2:27 a.m. there was a crash on Interstate 495 northbound; state police had jurisdiction. At 8:29 a.m. a 911 caller reported another car had hit the caller’s car on Still River Road but had not stopped. The caller followed the hit-and-run driver into Bolton, where the Bolton police took over. The two drivers exchanged information there. At 1:25 p.m. a Harvard officer asked to have a report logged about a previous weapons violation. At 8:28 p.m. someone reported fireworks in the Babbitt Lane area, and police checked the area.
Sunday, Aug. 13
At 10:37 a.m. Littleton police notified Harvard of a motorcycle parade passing through town with a police escort. At 11:14 a.m. Boxborough police asked for backup at a domestic incident on Old Harvard Road. At 8:08 p.m. a caller reported a half-dozen trucks speeding on Prospect Hill Road, with drivers who were throwing out beer cans and swearing; trucks and drivers were gone when police from both Harvard and Bolton arrived.
Monday, Aug. 14
At 1:41 a.m. Bolton police called for backup in responding to an alarm sounding at a residence on Hill Road. At 10:28 a.m. an Ayer Road resident reported a case of fraud. At 10:50 a.m. police called the DPW to remove a raccoon carcass on Still River Road. At 5:11 p.m. an Eldridge Road resident called 911 to report a bear was stealing a birdfeeder. An officer responded and, while he was there, the bear returned and helped itself to some apples. The officer estimated the bear’s weight at about 100 pounds. At 5:19 p.m. another dead raccoon was reported farther down Still River Road, and the animal control officer was notified.
