Board of Health: Other in-home care services are available

August 18, 2023

The Board of Health thanks the Harvard Press for covering the closing of the Nashoba Nursing Service & Hospice in its August 11 issue. We are sorry to be losing this local service.

While NNS&H is closing, there are a number of other home health and hospice agencies that cover our region. Nashoba Associated Boards of Health (NABH) has provided two websites which might be helpful to residents considering in-home care services.

To learn more about in-home services, visit the Homecare Alliance of Massachusetts: https://www.thinkhomecare.org. Be sure to check the options under “Choose Services,” which range from private nursing to appointment escorts.

To search for home health, hospice, and other types of medical providers and compare their CMS quality ratings using Medicare’s “Care Compare” tool: www.medicare.gov/care-compare and select “Home Health Services.”

We would like to reassure residents that there will be no impact to the environmental and public health services (including public health nursing services) that NABH provides to Harvard.

As always, the Harvard Board of Health and NABH are available to answer questions.
