At 2:32 p.m. a smoke alarm sounded at a house on Ann Lees Road. Engine 2 responded, and firefighters found the cause was burned food. The crew ventilated the house to clear it of smoke and reset the detector.
Thursday, June 8
The day was busy with car mishaps. At 6:35 a.m. the crew of Engine 2 was called to a car fire on Interstate 495 northbound. However, Boxborough firefighters had already extinguished the fire when the Harvard crew arrived, so no help was needed. At 8:06 a.m. firefighters were called back to Interstate 495 for a two-car crash in the southbound lane, but the call was quickly canceled. And at 10:29 a.m. they responded to a crash on the ramp to Route 2 eastbound, where a car had gone across the ramp and hit a tree. The fire crew stayed at the scene to provide safety until the car was towed. At 11:34 p.m. a smoke alarm went off at a residence on Baldwin Court; the duty officer found the alarm needed a new battery, replaced the old one, and reset the alarm.
Friday, June 9
At 5:59 a.m. firefighters went to the two-car crash on Ayer Road; no hazardous fluids had spilled, so they provided safety at the scene until the cars were towed.
Monday, June 12
At 6:30 a.m. Engine 2 and the tower truck went to an Ayer Road business where a gas leak had been reported. National Grid shut off the gas, and the firefighters ventilated the building thoroughly, staying on the scene for about four hours.
