Tom Denney Camp registration open
Registration is now open for the Tom Denney Nature Camp in Bolton. The camp is for students entering kindergarten through high school. Activities include swimming, games, arts and crafts, hiking, exploring, campfires, and building shelters.
Six weekly sessions run from July 3-Aug. 13, Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; before and after care are available. Visit tomdenneynaturecamp.org to learn more and register, or email bdttdnd@gmail.com with questions.
Open burning requires a permit
Open burning season begins Jan. 15 and continues through April 30. During this time, residents may burn brush, branches, and other vegetation debris. Permits must be obtained before burning and are available for purchase through the town website, www.harvard.ma.us, under the News and Announcements tab. Once a permit is obtained, call the phone number listed on the permit to activate the permit for the day. Burning may be canceled on any day when fire danger is deemed too high or air quality is poor. Call Trish at 978-456-8276 with questions.
Open burning of the following materials is prohibited statewide:
- Brush, trees, cane and driftwood from commercial or industrial land-clearing.
- Leaves, grass, hay, stumps, and tires.
- Construction material and debris.
Free COVID-19 test kits
The Board of Health has received more COVID-19 rapid at-home test kits from the state. They are available for residents to pick up at the Harvard Public Library, in the Town Hall foyer, at Hildreth House, the Board of Health office (Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.), and in the foyer of the Public Safety building, 40 Ayer Road. The board recommends four test kits per household.

Snow and ice removal bylaws
The Department of Public Works reminds residents that town bylaws prohibit the depositing of snow or ice on public ways and sidewalks, and that vehicles must not be parked in a public way so as to hinder snow and ice removal. This food pantry, 234 Barnum Road, Devens, offers drive-thru access on the first Tuesday of the month from 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the third Saturday of the month from 9 a.m. to noon. Commission on Disabilities survey
As part of its self-evaluation and transition planning process, the Harvard Commission on Disabilities is seeking information about residents’ experiences, thoughts, or ideas on the topics of accessibility and inclusion. The Americans with Disabilities Act requires municipalities to review their programs, services, and activities for compliance. The data will be presented to the Select Board.
