The state reported 13 new COVID-19 cases in Harvard for the week ending Feb. 5, down from 19 cases a week earlier. This brings the town’s cumulative number of confirmed cases to 548. For the week beginning Feb. 14, the Harvard Public Schools reported three students, but no staff members, out with COVID-19.
According to the state’s weekly vaccination report, 4,609 residents in Harvard were fully vaccinated as of Feb. 8, up seven from Feb. 1. Another 550 had received one dose of a two-dose vaccine, and 3,001 residents had received a booster dose, an increase of 20 since Feb. 1. Using the town clerk’s Nov. 8 population data, the percentage of Harvard residents eligible for the vaccine (5 and older) and fully vaccinated as of Feb. 1 is 85.8%, and the partially vaccinated percentage remains at 10%. These numbers do not include Devens residents or inmates at its Federal Medical Center.
Between Feb. 7 and Feb. 14, the state reported 13,226 confirmed COVID-19 cases, down from 22,514 the previous week. As of Feb. 14, 882 patients were hospitalized for COVID-19 in Massachusetts, 443 fewer than on Feb. 7, and 168 patients were in ICUs, 49 fewer than a week earlier. There were 339 COVID-related deaths between Feb. 7 and Feb. 14, down from 393 the previous week.
On Feb. 15 the Federal Bureau of Prisons website reported 16 COVID-19 cases among inmates at the Federal Medical Center in Devens, eight fewer than the previous week, and 15 cases among staff, also eight fewer than the previous week. Since the pandemic began, 378 of the current inmates and 13 staff have recovered from COVID-19; 13 inmates died of the virus.
