On behalf of Harvard’s ninth-grade Girl Scout Troop 41003, we would like to express our thanks and appreciation to Harvard Council on Aging (COA) Director Debbie Thompson. For the past five years, Debbie and the team at the COA have been generous with letting our troop utilize the meeting space at the old library (the previous location for the COA) and Hildreth House (the current COA location) for troop gatherings and events. In turn, our troop members have partnered with the COA for various community initiatives over the years.
From meal deliveries around Thanksgiving and Christmas, to decorating and planting around Hildreth House for Halloween and other holidays, Girl Scout Troop 41003 and other troops have formed a special relationship with the team at the senior center. The Girl Scouts have many fond memories of providing community outreach for seniors as well as fun times spent during troop meetings at Hildreth House.
We are in support of the COA getting the resources they need to continue providing for seniors in town. The COA offers a wide range of activities, resources, and support to many individuals in our community, not just seniors. We hope to continue our partnership and outreach with them over the coming years in their new abode on Lancaster County Road. The acquisition is a pittance to pay to provide proper programming space for Harvard’s valuable residents of all ages. Please vote “yes” for a new senior center in Harvard.
