Time to refresh and recharge

July 8, 2021

It’s been a trying year at the Press, one in which we lost Worth Robbins, a founder and publisher, and worked for 12 months under pandemic restrictions that kept us physically separated from each other as well as our subjects and readers. But it was also a year of accomplishment in which we won another New England Newspaper and Press Association award for our reporting and, with the help of Harvard Cable TV, completed a student-driven video project to record the experiences of the town’s frontline workers. Not to mention our continuing coverage of town government and the life of the community, all done remotely.

Now it’s time for us to refresh and recharge for a few weeks. This is our last issue until Aug. 20, when we’ll be back, ready to do our job as Harvard’s independent paper of record. Over the break we’re hoping to spend time in our gardens, at the pond, on the trail, or stretched out with a good book. But we won’t be absent. Our news desk will be staffed, ready to respond to breaking news that requires the reporting that only an experienced local news organization like the Press can provide. If you have a tip, phone us at 978-456-3700 and leave a message.

We’ll be sending out a reader survey later this summer to help us plan for the coming year. We’ll post it on the social media site Nextdoor as well as the Harvard Press website. We’d like to hear from all of our readers, whether you’re a subscriber or not.

We’re always looking for new contributors, especially reporters but also columnists and nonfiction writers of all kinds, adults as well as students. We’ll be actively recruiting when we return in August. If you’d like more information about working for the Press, write to editor@harvardpress.net.

Meantime, enjoy your summer. See you next month.
