The nonprofit arts collaborative at the old library, Fivesparks, has announced the winners of its first short story contest, PENdemic, in each of three age categories. Each winning author will receive a gift card to Silver Unicorn Bookstore. The stories will be published in the Harvard Press, starting in this issue with Tess Morton’s “The Star Protectors.” The winners are as follows:
- Grade 5 to 8 category: “The Star Protectors” by Tess Morton
- Grade 9 to 12 category: “Begin Again” by MacKenzie Hoover
- Adult category: “A Brief History of the Automobile” by William Salter
