At last, a contested race for Select Board

April 22, 2021

We’re encouraged by the contest for the Select Board seat that will become vacant when longtime member Lucy Wallace steps down next month.

With three candidates vying for the position, voters will have a reason to go to the polls for the first time since 2017. We owe a debt of gratitude to Richard Cabelus, Michael Maglothin, and Erin McBee for offering to fill one of the most challenging, but important, jobs in town.

We also owe thanks to Wallace, who served seven three-year terms on the Select Board, and who served on many Select Board subcommittees and as board liaison to many more.

Readers will have a chance to meet the three candidates at the Zoom-facilitated forum planned by the League of Women Voters for May 11 at 7 p.m. It’s a rare chance to hear a serious discussion of the issues facing Harvard. The Press is a co-sponsor of the event and will collect questions to be asked. We’d like your help. What would you like to hear the trio discuss? Send your questions to editor@harvardpress.net.
