In the past week, emergency responders received 10 medical calls. Five people required transport by ambulance to a hospital, three with Advanced Life Support services in attendance. One call was a request for a well-being check, and two others were for lift-assists. Police also responded to two false burglar alarms.
Tuesday, Nov. 10
At 7:16 a.m. a caller told police a wire was down on Littleton Road, but when an officer went to the scene, no wires had fallen. At 1:33 p.m. someone walked into the station to return a Harvard resident’s wallet that had been found in Lancaster, and police notified the owner. At 6:43 p.m. a caller told police that two people with flashlights were wandering around the Oak Hill Observatory on Pinnacle Road, but the trespassers had left when police arrived.
Wednesday, Nov. 11
At 7:57 a.m. someone reported a dead cat on Still River Road, and police called the animal control officer to remove it. At 5:08 p.m. a crash on Route 2 led to a 911 call for the Ambulance Service. The driver had been able to pull off the highway to the Dunkin’ parking lot, and the Ambulance Service transported the injured person to Emerson Hospital. At 7 p.m. a Warren Avenue resident reported that someone had filed a fraudulent unemployment claim in the resident’s name.
Thursday, Nov. 12
At 6:18 a.m. a 911 caller reported striking a deer near the post office on Ayer Road. The car was damaged badly enough to require a tow. At 7:11 a.m. an officer on patrol spotted several damaged mailboxes on West Bare Hill Road. Later in the day, two residents of that road and one from Warren Avenue reported the damage to police. One mailbox had been completely removed and was found across the street.
Friday, Nov. 13
At 11:15 a.m. a resident of Green Hill Road called to report a fraudulent unemployment claim. At 12:50 p.m. someone on Woodside Road reported yet another such claim. At 7:59 p.m. a 911 caller said there had been a crash on Route 2 westbound; the Ambulance Service responded and took an injured person to Nashoba Valley Medical Center.
Saturday, Nov. 14
At 3:51 p.m. firefighters were called out to rescue a hunter on conservation land near Mass. Ave. The hunter’s tree stand had fallen, leaving him uninjured but trapped in the tree. The firefighters were able to help him down.
Sunday, Nov. 15
A few minutes before midnight, police alerted the Department of Public Works that high winds were bringing down tree branches all across town.
Monday, Nov.16
At 9:09 a.m. someone called about a minor two-car accident in the Dunkin’ parking lot on Ayer Road; one driver was cited for failing to yield the right of way. At 11:44 a.m. an Old Mill Road resident called to report a fraudulent unemployment claim.
