Tip #42: Can I donate hearing aids?
Yes you can. Lions Clubs International collects hearing aids as part of its Hearing Aid Recycling Program. Some hearing aids are refurbished and either given to hearing care professionals to adapt for a recipient or used during a health care mission to a developing country. Other hearing aids are sent to manufacturers who credit the Lions for all useful parts; this credit is used toward the purchase of hearing aids for those with limited ability to pay.
Wrap hearing aids carefully and leave them in a Lions eyeglass donation box. In Harvard, there are boxes at the post office and the Council on Aging.

Editor’s Note: To gain entry to Harvard’s Transfer Station and empty trash, residents must purchase an $80 sticker. The sticker entitles its holder to dispose of recyclable glass, paper, metal, plastic, textiles, and books at no charge.
