A vote for Samfield

February 20, 2020

In the Democratic primary for our state representative on March 3, I will be voting for Dina Samfield. Dina firmly holds the values that are important to most Democrats. To name a few, she supports combating climate change with statewide renewable energy initiatives. She believes in the importance of investing in our transportation infrastructure. Dina has always been a staunch protector of women’s reproductive rights as well as LGBTQ rights. And, as a former public school science teacher, she certainly defends funding for high quality public education at all levels. But what impresses me most about Dina are her intangible qualities that will be key to making her an effective state representative. As a proven community advocate, she will take the time to listen to the concerns and interests of Harvard citizens. As a legislator, she won’t wait to test the political headwinds before taking a stand on important issues. She will think independently and act on her convictions.

I have seen firsthand Dina’s skills as a community organizer. She has that ability to get people to work together and build consensus. If there is a need in her community, she has a knack for connecting with people who can help, a critical skill for constituent services. And when she says she’s going to do something, you can count on it. Those are the qualities that are the foundation of a good public servant and someone who I want to be my state representative.
