Community Art Group
All those interested in art are invited to join COA’s newly formed Community Art Group at Hildreth House Mondays at 10 a.m. This is for anyone who wants to work on their artwork in a group setting.
Catholic Heart Work Camp students to prepare lunch for seniors
Catholic Heart Work Camp students are in Groton staying at Lawrence Academy and will be assisting some Harvard seniors. They will also be helping out at Hildreth House and will prepare lunch Tuesday, July 2. Sign up by July 1.
Lunch at Kimballs
Enjoy summer with locally-sourced seafood and your favorite ice cream at Kimball Farm in Lancaster Friday, July 12. The van leaves Hildreth House at 11 a.m. and returns by 2 p.m. Van fee is $2.
Cooking with Anton
Interested in learning some new tricks in the kitchen? Come to Hildreth House Monday, July 15, at 11:30 a.m. to watch a demonstration by cooking aficionados Anton and Peggy Chernoff. Attendees will enjoy a lunch of quinoa/kale/blueberry/mango salad and a Southeast Asian salad. Space is limited; sign up by July 8.
Let’s go to the movies
On Monday, July 15, at 1 p.m. in Volunteers Hall, see “A Dog’s Way Home.” The PG-rated film chronicles the adventure of a devoted dog who embarks on a 400-mile journey home after she is separated from her human.
Learn about nutrition
Learn about nutrition from Catherine York, the nutrition intern at Minuteman Senior Service, Tuesday, July 16, at 12:30 p.m. She will talk about protein, its effects on the body, and how much you should have each day.
Take a cruise and see Newport’s waterfront
Get an overview of Newport’s waterfront on a cruise on the Rum Runner II Tuesday, July 23. The ship was built in the 1920s as a rum smuggler during the height of Prohibition. Today she’ll take you on a safe and scenic passage through Newport Harbor and Narragansett Bay. The cruise includes a narrated tour and complimentary beverages and will take passengers close to the shoreline to see Newport’s estates, Fort Adams, and large private yachts. The van leaves Hildreth House at 9:30 a.m., stopping for lunch, and will return by 5 p.m. The fee of $30, due at signup, covers the boat trip.

Join other readers Thursday, Aug. 1, at 1 p.m. to discuss the short novel “How to Make an American Quilt” by Whitney Otto. Carlene Phillips will lead the program.
