Bromfield boys lose to league baseball rival Tyngsborough

The Bromfield Trojans lost to the Tyngsborough Tigers 4-0 Wednesday, May 8, at home. The Tigers are a Mid-Wach D League rival of Trojans and are undefeated.

The game was scoreless until the third inning, when Tyngsborough earned its first run. At the top of the third, Bromfield pitcher junior Jake Elliott got the first out by catching the second batter’s hit. Then a Tyngsborough player was tagged out at first but sent a teammate home for the first run of the game.

The Tigers advanced again in the fourth inning. As in the previous inning, a Tyngsborough player was tagged out at first but sent a teammate home. Elliot closed the inning by striking out a Tyngsborough batter. The fifth and sixth innings passed with no runs scored.

Bromfield junior Clayton Hanlon pitched in the seventh inning. He allowed a walk for the first batter, but then struck out the second. Two batters later, another Tiger sent a teammate home. Hanlon allowed one more run and struck out one more Tyngsborough player in the inning. At the bottom of the seventh, Bromfield was unable to make any comeback and the game ended 4-0 Tyngsborough.

Bromfield lost its next game 2-1 against St. Bernard’s away. This brought the overall season record to 3-6 and the league record to 1-3. The next game was scheduled for Wednesday, May 15 against Littleton at home.
