On July 1, Harvard will implement its new SMART (Save Money and Reduce Trash) program for disposing of trash and recyclable materials at the Transfer Station. Residents will be required to purchase an $80 sticker to use the facility and to buy specially marked bags for disposing of nonrecyclable trash. Purchase of the sticker also entitles residents to dispose of recyclable materials such as paper, glass, and plastic.
However, many other items are recyclable. So beginning this week, the Press will publish a tip a week to help readers increase recycling and reduce trash. Here’s the first.
