The Board of Directors of Fivesparks (formerly the Harvard Cultural Collaborative) has appointed Nicole Schmidt of East Bare Hill Road as its new executive director. Schmidt joins the organization to support its overall mission to sponsor and promote arts and culture in Harvard and neighboring towns, and she will focus her enthusiasm for the arts and her nonprofit experience on expanding Fivesparks’ programming and community engagement.
“I am thrilled to join the inspiring Fivesparks team in its dedication to cultural vibrancy in Harvard and our surrounding communities through the arts,” said Schmidt.
Schmidt moved to Harvard in 2015 with her husband and two children to start The Currier Farm, a small organic vineyard, orchard, and vegetable farm. She taught sixth-grade English in Leominster until 2018, when she decided to leave that position to homeschool her children. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Dartmouth College and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Bordeaux with a specialization in the wine industry. She graduated high school from the Greater Hartford Academy of the Performing Arts, where she majored in drama, sang with the Connecticut Opera Company, and performed with Looking In Theater Company.
