Police made six motor vehicle stops in the past week, four of which led to verbal warnings and one to a citation or written warning. They also issued two parking tickets and helped one motorist with a disabled vehicle that had to be towed. Officers responded to two medical emergencies, with the ambulance squad taking one person to the hospital with Advanced Life Support on board. The department issued or renewed two firearms permits.
Tuesday, March 12
At 3:31 p.m. an East Bare Hill Road resident called to ask for assistance in removing some exotic animals, including tarantulas, a scorpion, and a python, from the home. An officer called on Animal Adventures, a zoo and rescue center in Bolton, to handle the task. A cellphone call at 4:56 p.m. alerted Harvard police to a crash on Route 2 westbound, over which state police had jurisdiction; no one was injured. Ayer police called at 11:42 p.m. to notify Harvard about someone driving erratically on Ayer Road near Myrick Lane. Harvard police located the vehicle, which drove back to Ayer. Harvard police then backed up their Ayer counterparts in making the stop.
Wednesday, March 13
At 12:18 p.m. a 911 caller from Stow Road reported that someone was breaking into the house. Police went to the address, but by that time the homeowner said the children had just come home from school earlier than expected.

Friday, March 15
At 5:27 p.m. a collision on Route 2 eastbound resulted in an injured person being taken to the hospital. At 9:57 p.m. Harvard police were called to assist both Ayer and state police on Shirley Street in Ayer. No other details were available.
Saturday, March 16
At 2:57 a.m. there was yet another car crash on Route 2 eastbound, this time requiring the ambulance to transport someone to a hospital with Advanced Life Support on board. At 6:45 a.m. a Madigan Lane resident called police to say a neighbor’s alarm was sounding; police said it was neither a fire nor a burglar alarm. That was the first of a spate of false alarms from several parts of town, including a couple from Town Hall. At 3:28 p.m. police followed up on another complaint of identity theft.
Sunday, March 17
At 1 a.m. Harvard police assisted Ayer in a vehicle stop near the town line. A South Shaker Road resident called at 9 p.m. because someone had rung the doorbell and then run off; police searched the area but found no one. At 9:29 p.m. an officer spoke to some people gathered at the Prospect Hill overlook; the area closes at dusk.
Monday, March 18
Officers served a summons on a person at Rollstone Bank & Trust on Ayer Road at 1:36 p.m. At 3:42 p.m. an employee at a medical practice on Ayer Road called police to say the office was receiving threatening phone calls from a former patient; an officer went to the office.
