Shop (and give!) locally

November 29, 2018

’Tis the season of gratitude and a time to support the many local businesses and nonprofits that make Harvard such a special place to live. In this issue, starting on page 1, you’ll find our annual guide to local shopping. Press staffers have contacted and visited shops throughout the area to compile the most comprehensive list of unique and locally available holiday gifts you’ll find anywhere. Many of these businesses are also Press advertisers, helping sustain the town’s independent paper and for whom we are grateful.

Also, while you are in a giving mood, now’s a good time to contribute to one of the more than 30 organizations doing good work in Harvard and surrounding communities that we list on page 13, including the Harvard Conservation Trust, the Friends of the Council on Aging, the Friends of the Harvard Public Library and Harvard Friends of the Arts, and the Harvard Schools Trust. It’s organizations like these—close to home and run by your neighbors—that keep important town institutions alive.

And finally, please consider becoming a sustaining member of the Harvard Press. Like public television, we depend on your support to keep news of the town coming your way week after week. Click the green “Be a Sustainer” button.
