During the week, Harvard police made five traffic stops, two of which resulted in verbal warnings and three in written warnings. Officers helped one person with a disabled vehicle and responded to eight medical emergencies.
Tuesday, June 19
At 12:20 a.m. a Littleton Road resident reported that a fallen tree had taken down a wire and was blocking the road near the Littleton town line. An officer went to the scene and determined that the downed wire belonged to Littleton Electric Light and Water, which was notified. A White Lane resident called 911 at 1:38 a.m. to say that a suspicious-looking truck was parked nearby with its engine running and a yellow light flashing. An officer went to the scene and found that the vehicle was a utility company truck. Police received another report of a fallen tree from a Still River Road resident at 1:11 p.m. An officer went to the scene but found nothing. At 5:38 p.m. an East Bare Hill Road resident phoned to say that an unknown person had trespassed on his property five hours earlier. The officer sent to investigate found no one.
Wednesday, June 20
Police arrested a Lancaster man in Harvard at 1 a.m. and charged him with domestic assault and battery and with breaking and entering. At 8:15 a.m. an officer took the accused man to Clinton District Court. To protect the victim’s identity, the police would provide no further details. A Bolton Road man came to the station at 8:44 a.m. with an iPhone he had found in his mailbox. Police were able to locate the owner’s mother and return it. A Still River Depot Road resident called at 11:28 p.m. to complain that a motorcyclist was racing up and down the road. Police located the cyclist and spoke to him. The same Still River resident called a second time at 3:25 p.m. to complain that three vehicles were racing up and down the road. An officer found the parties involved and spoke with them. Police responded to a 911 caller at 4:50 p.m. and went to an accident scene on Ayer Road. There were no injuries. A Still River resident called 911 at 9:22 p.m. to report hearing a woman scream from a car as it had passed. An officer went to the scene, but no one was there.
Thursday, June 21
Responding to a 7:08 a.m. 911 call, the ambulance took a woman who had been experiencing chest pains to Nashoba Valley Medical Center with Advanced Life Support onboard. A South Shaker Road caller reported at 7:23 a.m. that a rotten tree stump had fallen onto the travel lane. DPW was notified. Harvard EMTs answered a 911 call at 10:23 a.m. and took a 73-year-old Mettacomett Path man who had fallen to Nashoba Valley Medical Center. Police are continuing to investigate reports of mail tampering in town. An officer heard from a Stow Road resident at 2:07 p.m. of yet another potential case of mail theft and forwarded the information to the U.S. Postal Service. An officer went to check on a fallen power line on West Bare Hill Road at 8:45 p.m. The wire was reportedly arcing and posing a hazard. A resident had phoned in the problem an hour earlier. National Grid arrived shortly after the officer appeared at the scene.
Friday, June 22
The ambulance went to a Pattee Road residence at 12:31 a.m. in response to a medical alert alarm. A woman had fallen and accidentally activated her device. At 6:54 a.m. a Bolton Road resident reported finding a small dog on the property with a 2015 tag. The owner was called and came to retrieve the animal. Someone saw a fox rolling in dirt on Still River Road near Bellevue Cemetery and called police at 11:01 a.m. By the time an officer arrived, the animal had moved on. Police say it is common for foxes, which are daylight animals, to seek relief from mange with such behavior.
Saturday, June 23
The ambulance crew answered a 911 call at 6 a.m. and took a 67-year-old woman to Emerson Hospital. At 2:41 p.m., responding to a second 911 call, the ambulance took a 7-year-old with flu-like symptoms to Emerson Hospital. A Pinnacle Road resident called police to report seeing a chocolate Lab loose on Pinnacle Road. The officer who took the call notified the animal control officer. At 8:27 p.m. someone called 911 to complain of being passed by a black SUV “at an excessive speed” on Old Littleton Road. An officer was unable to locate the vehicle.
Sunday, June 24
The ambulance crew, responding to a 9:48 a.m. emergency 911 call, took a 90-year-old woman to Nashoba Valley Medical Center. Someone phoned police at 12:36 p.m. to report a dog loose on Bolton Road. The animal control officer was notified. The ambulance was called out again at 4:28 p.m. in response to a 911 call and took a 74-year-old man who had fallen to Emerson Hospital. At 5:25 p.m. an officer assisted the Boxborough police in dealing with a domestic case. Police assisted the Boxborough police again at 9:42 p.m., this time to investigate reports of a single gunshot near Paddock Lane. Nothing was found.
Monday, June 25
At 9:49 a.m. the ambulance answered a 911 call and took a 90-year-old man with low blood pressure and in an altered mental state to Emerson Hospital. Someone reported finding a golden retriever on the loose at 10:09 a.m. The caller brought the dog to the station, where its owner retrieved it. At 4:32 p.m. a caller reported seeing an unattended school bus in the parking area of Harvard Lanes on Ayer Road. When an officer arrived at the scene, the bus was gone.
