The Select Board, formerly known as the Board of Selectmen, held its annual election of officers Tuesday evening, June 5, as prescribed by its policies and procedures. Lucy Wallace was re-elected chair, Alice von Loesecke was re-elected vice chair, and Kara Minar was re-elected clerk. With the overall membership of the board unchanged after the May 8 election, at which Wallace was returned unopposed, the new board is identical to the old.
The board’s policies and procedures, as revised, stipulate that the annual election be held at the first meeting following the board’s annual strategic planning session, which was held Monday, June 4, this year. Board rules allow any officer to serve two consecutive terms; the Charter has no such restriction.
The board’s name and titles are now gender-neutral, thanks to the new Charter. The titles selectmen, chairman, and vice chairman have been replaced with Select Board member, chair, and vice chair.
