The Bromfield Trojans varsity softball team lost by its largest deficit of the season, 20–0, at the hands of the undefeated Tyngsborough Tigers Wednesday, May 16, and fell to Clinton 7–3 the next day. But the Trojans bounced back with an 11–7 win against Tahanto Monday, May 21.
After the blowout win against the Trojans, Tyngsborough had an overall record of 13–0 and a 7–0 record in the Mid-Wach League Division D.
On Thursday, May, 17, the Clinton Gaels battered the Trojans, scoring a run in the first inning and three more in the third. They finished with two runs in the sixth inning. The Trojans scored their first run in the second inning and persevered until the sixth to score two final runs. Bromfield had six hits in total and the Gaels had nine. Trojan senior, pitcher, and co-captain Kiley Russell struck out 10.
The Trojans faced Tahanto Monday for their second win of the season. Bromfield took the lead in the first inning, notching two runs versus Tahanto’s one. The Trojans added one run in the second inning and two more in the third, finishing strong with three more runs in both the sixth and seventh innings. Tahanto had three runs in the fifth inning and three in the seventh. Bromfield batted for 13 hits to Tahanto’s 11.
At midweek, the Trojans had a 2–12 overall record and a 0–6 league record. Bromfield’s next game was scheduled for Friday, May 25, against Ayer Shirley.
