I agree with Joe Theriault who stated in his March 9 letter to the editor that volunteers, especially new volunteers, need support and guidance.
I am glad I am on the Board of Health. I have a newfound respect and fascination for how our town runs, and I think others would also enjoy volunteering. But knowing what my learning curve was, I feel I have to caution those running for office about the time investment.
The town of Weston has a Board and Committee Handbook (weston.org/Docu mentCenter/View/285 ). Is this something that Harvard could replicate? Could we have a volunteer coordinator or resource person? What other ideas are out there?
