Senior Chloe Alfieri placed first and fifth in events at the New England Indoor Championship meet Saturday, March 3, at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston.
Competing against schools from across New England, Alfieri placed first in the 300-meter with a time of 39.12 seconds. She also placed fifth behind Victoria Steffon of Wachusett Regional High School in the 55-meter with a time of 7.32, despite having placed second in the preliminaries for this event with a time of 7.29.
Alfieri expressed both satisfaction and disappointment with her times as she was hoping to gain a personal record (PR). She told the Press, “I was hoping to PR, but that can’t always happen. I’m still happy I got a win at New Englands.” She added, “My prelims went well. I went to finals seeded second. My finals were not as great as the prelims; I ran a little bit slower.”
Alfieri excitedly told the Press she will be competing in the New Balance Nationals meet March 9–11 at the New Balance Track and Field Center in New York City.
