Harvard Cultural Council issues FY18 grants

February 22, 2018

The Harvard Cultural Council—not to be confused with the Harvard Cultural Collaborative—has announced 17 grant awards for the current fiscal year totaling $4,500. These awards support cultural programming undertaken by organizations in Harvard and neighboring communities.

The Massachusetts state budget includes money for the Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC), which runs several arts and culture-related programs, including the state’s Local Cultural Council (LCC) grant program. The Harvard Cultural Council is part of a network of 329 LCCs serving the state’s 351 cities and towns. The organization administers the LCC grant program, bringing monies from the state budget to fund programs that directly affect Harvard residents. The Harvard Cultural Council is a volunteer organization that operates both as a town committee and under the MCC umbrella, and it makes decisions about which activities to support with LCC grant funding.

“It is a pleasure to support local organizations and individuals who are dedicated to bringing a wide array of programming and opportunities to residents in and around Harvard,” said Harvard Cultural Council Chairwoman Lucy Clerkin. “We are grateful to all of the applicants, and look forward to supporting more enriching programs next year.”

Following are this year’s grant recipients:
