Harvard Girl Scout Troop 30892 would like to thank all the volunteers who supported our endeavor to partner with Rise Against Hunger. When we started out, we weren’t sure we would be able to reach the $3,000 goal to package 10,000 meals that are meant to go to school lunch programs, hospital meals, and disaster relief in countries in great need, especially right now in the Caribbean. Rise Against Hunger is an international hunger relief organization that distributes food and life-changing aid to the world’s most vulnerable, mobilizing the necessary resources to end hunger by 2030. The troop undertook this last spring, then recently received a plea to increase its goal due to “the spike in demand,” and we were able to raise more than $3,000 and thus package 13,000 meals, meals that would not have been possible without your help, our community.
We thank the Harvard Lions Club and Volksfest, the sponsors of the Harvard Flea Market, and the Harvard DPW and Transfer Station for your support; all of you made our fundraising possible. Those who donated used Halloween costumes and vintage clothing for us to resell—it worked! The troop would like to thank the 50 adults and children who joined us to package the meals. We were so happy to see “sister scouts” there. We truly appreciate all our friends and neighbors who donated and the enthusiasm expressed by so many in town! This helped us keep going. We also thank Juniper Networks, Reddy Family Dental, John Walker DMD, Pediatric Dentistry of Concord, Westward Orchards, Law Office of Erin McBee, David E. Ross Associates, Acton Medical Associates, Bromfield Cares, Health Alliance/UMass Memorial Medical Center, the Fiber Loft, and all the other businesses and individuals who supported us with donations large and small. (We apologize for not being able to name everyone individually, but our deep gratitude goes out to all of you.)
