Police made two traffic stops during the week and gave both drivers verbal warnings. They also responded to one request for an outdoor cooking fire. The ambulance crew responded to five medical emergencies and took four people to the hospital, two with Advanced Life Support on board. One person refused treatment or transport to the hospital.
Tuesday, Oct. 10
At 10:51 a.m. a caller reported a low-hanging wire on Finn Road. An officer went to the area, found two low-hanging wires, and notified Verizon.

Thursday, Oct. 12
Someone called 911 to report a car off the road on Still River Road near Bellevue Cemetery. Police say the driver lost control of the car and veered off the roadway into a utility pole. The driver, who was taken by ambulance to the hospital, was cited for a marked lanes violation. A Stow Road resident called 911 at 7:32 p.m. to report hearing gunshots nearby. Police report that an officer checked along the roadway several times but heard nothing. At 11:03 p.m. someone called to report suspicions about a man seen in the back parking lot at the library. Police say the man was there observing the night sky through his telescope.
Friday, Oct. 13
A resident called at 2:57 p.m. to report receiving a phone call from his wife, who said she’d been in an accident on Ayer Road but wasn’t injured. An officer checked along the road to both town lines but found no sign of an accident. At 10:42 p.m. a motorist called to report traveling behind a green Toyota van that was “all over the road” and speeding on Ayer Road at Massachusetts Avenue. The caller continued to follow the van, giving police periodic updates of its location. Police finally caught up with and stopped the vehicle on East Bare Hill Road but did not observe any erratic operation. The officer spoke with the driver, who said he was “very tired.”
Saturday, Oct. 14
At 10:12 p.m. a Partridge Hill Road resident called to report that someone had rung the doorbell and left, twice. The caller said he had video footage that he would share with police. The incident is under investigation.

Nothing of significance to report.
Monday, Oct. 16
A West Bare Hill Road resident called 911 at 11:37 p.m. to report hearing someone, possibly a child, screaming nearby. An officer went to the residence but did not hear or see anything unusual. Police speculate that the sound could have been from a fisher.
