Harvard native, teacher of English
Peter Hopkins McClellan, 70, died Friday Aug. 4, 2017, at Lahey Clinic Hospital in Burlington following a brief illness.
High school football captain, Boston cab driver, kite builder, teacher of English to businessmen in Mexico, gardener, cook, bridge club player, carpenter, reader, writer, and a keen, passionate, observer of current events around the world, Peter was not only creative but also generous and caring.
Peter was born in 1946 in Ayer. He grew up in Harvard and Pepperell, and later lived in Boston, Roxbury, Cape Cod, and San Miguel de Allende in Mexico.
He attended Amherst College and received a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Northeastern University in 1972.
Peter is survived by his mother, Constance R. McClellan; his brothers James L. McClellan III and his wife, Valerie, of Harvard, and Andrew R. McClellan and his wife, Dawn, of St. Louis; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. He was preceded in death by his father, James L. McClellan Jr., and a brother, Mark A. McClellan
