Bromfield senior Zachary Sclar of Depot Road recently earned third place in a New England–wide high school science-reporting competition sponsored by the Massachusetts Society for Medical Research, which supports the biomedical sciences throughout New England. The society’s 26th annual student competition recognizes students who investigate recent biomedical research breakthroughs and then create compelling and informative essays, posters, or websites about them.
His essay, “Electronic Aspirin: A Promising Cure for Headaches,” was judged against entries from scores of motivated students across New England. Sclar earned a certificate of recognition, prize book, and cash award for his successful entry. His sponsoring teacher is Dr. Kristen Vanderveen
