The Bromfield Trojans girls varsity soccer team trounced Maynard and Littleton this week and last, tying Tyngsborough for first place in the Mid-Wach League Division D.
On Wednesday, Sept. 20, Bromfield faced Maynard at home at Harvard Park and won 5–1. Senior Sarah Moore notched two goals for the Trojans, making her top scorer for the game. Sophomore Sam Schoenberg followed, with one goal and an assist.

On Monday, Sept. 25, the Trojans defeated their rivals, the Littleton Tigers, 3–1. Littleton started off stronger in the game and regularly beat the Trojans to the ball, keeping the action on Bromfield’s side of the field for the first 15 minutes. Tiger players scored a goal one-third of the way into the first half. The Trojans soon battled back, and sophomore Caroline Mara scored Bromfield’s first goal of the afternoon. Bromfield players then revived and began to take more frequent shots, and freshman Olivia Kehoe assisted Moore for the second Bromfield goal of the game.
In the second half, Trojan players kept up the intensity and continued taking shots on goal. Trojan goalie senior Sierra Gomez made several tricky saves for her team as well. Moore recorded Bromfield’s third goal 32 minutes into the half.
“Historically, they’ve been one of our biggest rivals, [so] we were amped up. We wanted to win,” said co-captain Moore after the game.
Senior Jessy Andrews, fellow captain, added, “I think we always try and bring our A game, because we know that they’re really good competition … We want it really badly this year.”
Moore said the team could improve by taking more shots, adding, “I think we can score some good goals.”
After the wins, Bromfield’s record stood at 3–0 in the league and 5–1 overall. Bromfield’s next game was scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 27, at Tyngsborough
