Gateway to College enrollment open at MWCC
The Gateway to College program at Mount Wachusett Community College is accepting students for the coming school year. This program is for students aged 16 to 21 who have dropped out of high school, allowing them to earn college credits while completing their high school degree. It provides motivated students a fresh chance to achieve academic success and get a jumpstart on college.
Students simultaneously earn a high school diploma while earning college credits toward an associate degree or certificate at Mount Wachusett Community College. All classes take place on the Mount Wachusett Community College campuses.
Gateway to College is a scholarship program, paying for tuition, fees, and textbooks as long as the student maintains a semester GPA of at least 3.0. More information is available at mwcc.edu/access/programs/gateway/. Information sessions will be held July 19 and Aug. 2.

The Harvard Public Library’s summer hours are:

- Tuesday: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Wednesday: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Thursday: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

- Saturday: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

‘Free Fun Fridays’
The Highland Street Foundation is sponsoring “Free Fun Fridays,” offering visitors free admission on select Fridays to 85 museums and other cultural institutions throughout the state, including the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum and the Mary Baker Eddy Library. The Museum of Russian Icons in Clinton is part of this program and will be open Friday, July 14, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at no charge. Stop by to visit the Fantastic Beasts in Iconography exhibit and enjoy crafts and audio tours.
Harvard Cultural Council seeks volunteers
The Harvard Cultural Council (HCC) invites residents to consider being part of its committee. The HCC promotes and supports cultural resources within Harvard by allocating grant funding to a wide variety of activities, including concerts, plays, educational programs, and festivals. The committee meets a few times each year to review applications and make funding decisions. The commitment is minimal, but the impact is widespread. Summer lacrosse camps for girls
Girls entering grades 2 through 7 can learn how to play lacrosse or improve their skills at a 4-day lacrosse camp, Monday, July 17, through Thursday, July 20. The camp will be hosted by Bromfield varsity lacrosse players Jackie Planchet and Lindsey Hoggins. Bring a mouth guard, goggles, and lacrosse stick; some extra sticks and goggles will be available. For more experienced players, the JV/varsity lacrosse camp is geared to bring players to the next level. This program runs for six consecutive Monday evenings, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., starting July 10. Tom Denney Nature Camp still has openings
Tom Denney Nature Camp welcomes kids from local communities for games and activities in the fields and woods. There are five weekly sessions, Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., beginning July 10. New this year: Students entering kindergarten may register for any week, and the Eco Adventures program is open for incoming fifth- through ninth-graders where they kayak, rock climb and sleep over one night. Loaves & Fishes food drive
There will be a food drive at the Transfer Station to benefit the Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry on Saturday, July 15; Saturday, July 29; and Saturday, Aug. 12, 9 a.m. to noon. Needed items include pasta, peanut butter, baking supplies, rice, canned tuna, canned soup, bottled juice, wrapped snacks, condiments (ketchup, mustard, mayo), hygiene products, cereal.
