Former longtime resident, engineer, outdoorsman

Louis J. Motta, 78, formerly of Harvard and Apollo, Florida, died Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at Tampa General Hospital in Tampa, Florida.
Mr. Motta was born in New Rochelle, New York, Nov. 26, 1938, a son of Louis and Lillian (Murphy) Motta, and grew up in New Rochelle. He was a graduate of New Rochelle High School. He continued his education at New York University, where he majored in electrical engineering, graduating in 1968.
Following his graduation he went to work for Raytheon Corporation, where he remained for 32 years, retiring in 2000. While at Raytheon he was assigned to offices located in Wayland, Marlborough, and Bedford. He was involved with the air traffic control system.
Mr. Motta and his family lived in Harvard for 36 years before moving to Apollo, Florida, where he resided for 16 years. He was a former member of Oak Hill Country Club in Fitchburg and the St. Petersburg Yacht Club in Florida. He enjoyed skiing, golfing, and spending time on his boat, “Turning Point.”
He leaves his wife of 56 years, Judith A. (Bliven) Motta; two daughters, Lynn E. Fallon of Boxborough and Kristin M. Zwickau of Boston; a sister, Kathleen Manera of Mamaroneck, New York; and three grandchildren, Davis Fallon, Payton Fallon, and Katelyn Zwickau.
