Fourteen traffic stops were reported during the week, which resulted in four citations and 10 verbal warnings. This week police also assisted one motorist with a disabled vehicle and helped another get into an inadvertently locked car. The ambulance crew responded to six medical emergencies during the week and took three people to the hospital, one with Advanced Life Support on board. Six people refused medical treatment or transport to the hospital.
Tuesday, June 20
Around 7:32 a.m. police received several calls about a multicar accident on Ayer Road near Acton Medical Associates. Police, fire, and EMS personnel were dispatched to the scene. Police report that one car had crossed into oncoming traffic, struck and bounced off a tractor-trailer truck, then sideswiped two other cars and veered into one more before coming to a stop. One person was taken to Nashoba Valley Medical Center; three people refused treatment or transport to the hospital. Two cars were towed. Police say the driver apparently became drowsy as a result of medication; that person was cited for failure to stay within marked lanes. At 11:32 a.m. a caller reported suspicions about a silver Cadillac parked on the side of the road on Deerfoot Trail. Police say the car belonged to a woman who was walking her dog in the area. A motorist called at 11:59 a.m. to report that a street sweeper on Ayer Road was causing a road hazard. An officer went to the location and found workers from the Department of Public Works just wrapping up their assignment. The officer told them they would need a police detail in the future. A patrol officer called dispatch at 2:13 p.m. to report that tree branches in the roadway on Littleton County Road needed to be removed. The DPW was notified. A Littleton Road resident called at 7:25 p.m. to report that a car had driven into a mailbox and left the scene. An officer went to the residence, where a witness provided identifying information about the car. An officer later tracked down the vehicle’s owner, who said she was unaware she had struck anything. The officer told her she needed to file an accident report.
Wednesday, June 21
A Willard Lane resident called at 6:19 a.m. to report that an unfamiliar car was parked in his driveway next to his own vehicle. An officer determined that the car belonged to a neighbor and asked the person to move it. At 9:45 a.m. a motorist called to report a large rock in the middle of Ayer Road. An officer found a large paper bag in the road and a large rock that had been moved to the roadside. A motorist called at 11:07 a.m. to report that two motorcycles had almost struck his car on Littleton County Road. Police searched the area but did not encounter the motorcycles. A patrol officer called in at 12:01 p.m. to report that a speed limit sign on Poor Farm Road had been knocked down. The DPW was notified. A resident stopped at the station at 3:36 p.m. to report that she had received an item in the mail that she did not order, and upon calling the shipper, discovered someone had fraudulently used her name and credit card information to order it. A motorist called 911 to report being rear-ended on the Route 2 off-ramp. The call was referred to state police. Bolton police called at 7:35 p.m. to alert the Harvard animal control officer about a dog loose near the Bolton-Harvard town line. The Bolton animal control officer had also been notified. The dog was found by the Harvard animal control officer and returned to its Harvard owner. At 8:39 p.m. a caller reported concerns about a woman in dark clothing walking on Slough Road, looking confused. Police checked along the road but found no one.
Thursday, June 22
At 6:09 p.m. a Turner Lane resident called to report that while out walking her dog, she had observed a truck traveling “at least 55 miles per hour” and crossing the median lines in the road. Based on the information provided by the caller, police located the truck owner, a Harvard resident, who assured the officer he had been going no more than 15 miles per hour.
Friday, June 23
A motorist called at 1:02 a.m. to report that he might be the victim of a scam. He said he was on his way to Canada with a trailer and that the trailer developed a problem and he pulled over on Littleton County Road. He told police he had called a repair company and pre-paid, but the service person hadn’t shown up. The officer contacted the company; the service person arrived a short time later. A patrol officer called at 4:07 a.m. to report a tree down on Trail Ridge Way. The DPW was notified to take care of it. A motorist called at 5:25 a.m. to report striking a young deer on Poor Farm Road near Littleton Road. An officer went to the area but did not locate a deer. However, after two more calls came in about the deer and its whereabouts, the officer found the deer and had to euthanize it. A Simon Atherton Row resident called at 2:14 p.m. to report that a chocolate Lab was loose in the area, scaring children. The animal control officer was notified.

A Glenview Drive resident called 911 at 7:53 a.m. to report a bear in the back yard.
Sunday, June 25
At 10:11 a.m. police responded to a 911 call about a disturbance on East Bare Hill Road and subsequently arrested 61-year-old Eva McClellan on a charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. A Glenview Drive resident called to report hearing gunshots in the area. An officer checked the neighborhood, but neither heard nor saw anything suspicious.
Monday, June 26
Someone called at 7:50 a.m. to report a tree branch in the roadway on Old Shirley Road. The DPW was dispatched to remove it. A patrol officer came across a dead deer on Still River Road and requested that the DPW remove the carcass. A Still River Road resident called at 10:57 a.m. to report that a mother bear with some cubs had tried to chase a child nearby. The animal control officer was notified. Someone called at 1:52 p.m. to report that a truck with a trailer that was parked at the town beach was causing a hazard. An officer went to the beach and determined that the truck posed no hazard where it was parked. A Massachusetts Avenue resident called at 8:03 p.m. to report a possible intruder in the house. An officer went to the home and determined all was in order.
