Marielle Elizabeth Olsen, 37, of Lincoln, New Hampshire, passed away suddenly May 17, 2017.
Marielle was born Oct. 8, 1979, in Boston. She graduated from the Bromfield School in 1997 and from St. Michael’s College in 2001 with a major in business administration and marketing. During her junior year, she spent a semester abroad in Newcastle, Australia. Most recently she was the social media and marketing manager for Trailjournals LLC. Marielle had also been a racing instructor for five years at Mammoth Lakes, California.
While Marielle spent most of her youth in Harvard, she often visited and explored the White Mountains with her family, conquering all 48 New Hampshire 4,000-footers by age 11. Her athleticism led her to play soccer in high school and college. In addition, she was on the St. Michael’s and Loon Mountain race teams. She was a winner of the Loon Mountain Governor’s Cup and several Invitationals. Marielle was most at home in the mountains or by the ocean. She will be remembered for wearing “a ski hat or a pair of sunnies,” for her caring and infectious spirit and her winning smile. She will be sorely missed by her family and her many friends.
Marielle is survived by her parents, Ruth and Paul Olsen; her sister, Heather Matson; her brother, Mathew Olsen; and her sister-in-law, Jacqui Olsen. Marielle was aunt to Alexcia, Kylan, Conlyn, and Cayden Matson, and to Sierra and Edrik Olsen. She is the niece of Carol Olsen and cousin to Lynda, Erick, and Drew Olsen.
A celebration of Marielle’s life will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 3, at the Starr King Unitarian Universalist Church, 101 Fairgrounds Road, Plymouth, New Hampshire. A light luncheon will be served following the service.
