Dr. Piali De, CEO of Senscio Systems, was sworn in on April 21 to serve the commonwealth as a member of Governor Charlie Baker’s Massachusetts Digital Healthcare Council, which advises the governor on the digital health industry and helps develop a growth plan to achieve the goal of creating the leading global ecosystem for digital health in Massachusetts. The council convenes leaders across the digital health care industry to advise on ways new digital technologies can improve health care, grow jobs, and reduce health care costs.
De is the Brown University physicist recognized for inventing the AI system that U.S. intelligence agencies used after 9/11 to detect airplanes that could be a terrorist threat. Today she is pioneering artificial intelligence–powered platforms for the health care industry at the company she co-founded in 2010, Senscio Systems of Boxborough. De’s patent-pending digital health solution is designed for the chronic care population, the 5 percent of the population that accounts for more than 50 percent of health care spending in the United States.
