During the week, police made one traffic stop that resulted in a verbal warning, helped five motorists with disabled vehicles, and helped one person get into an inadvertently locked vehicle. The ambulance crew responded to six medical emergencies and took four people to the hospital, two with Advanced Life Support on board.
Tuesday, Feb. 7
A resident came to the station at 8:52 a.m. to report a case of identity theft. The resident said that someone had attempted to open credit cards in his name but was unsuccessful. At 10:23 a.m. a vehicle traveling south on Bolton Road slipped on the snowy surface, left the road, and struck a stone wall. The vehicle was pulled off the wall, and the driver, who was not injured, was able to drive the car from the scene. At 1:57 p.m. a resident walked into the station to report what he thought might have been an unidentified flying object. The man said a friend of his had seen and videotaped the object in the area of Poor Farm Road a few days before, but the man did not have the video to show to the police. When asked if the object might have been a drone, the man said it did not appear to be one. Police logged the incident. A vehicle went off Old Shirley Road at 3:20 p.m. and the driver called for assistance. Police were able to push the undamaged vehicle back onto the road.
Wednesday, Feb. 8
A caller reported a Facebook hacking incident at 1:10 p.m., in which her friend’s Facebook account was hacked into and used to send her a threatening message. At 3:48 p.m. someone came to the station to report that a woman was giving out his phone number to businesses and asking them to call him. Police told the man that it was not illegal to give out someone’s phone number, but they attempted, unsuccessfully, to contact the woman.
Thursday, Feb. 9
At 4:31 a.m. police advised the Department of Public Works (DPW) that town roads were becoming hazardous due to a snowstorm. At 6:30 p.m. a caller reported that the intersection of Bolton Road and Mass. Ave. was icy, and the DPW was notified. A resident called the station at 6:59 p.m. to report a suspicious gray pickup truck in her driveway. Police investigated and determined that the truck belonged to her neighbor.

Saturday, Feb. 11
Police notified the DPW at 12:04 a.m. that town roads were becoming hazardous. A resident called at 7 a.m. to report that her vehicle had spun out in the snow and was stuck in a snowbank. Officers assisted and removed the vehicle, which was not damaged. The driver was not injured. At 9:13 a.m. a caller reported seeing a truck plow a large pile of snow onto Ayer Road and drive away. Police notified the DPW. Someone stopped by the station at 10:39 a.m. to report that the intersection of Bolton and Slough roads was icy, and the DPW was notified.
Sunday, Feb. 12
A caller reported that his car was damaged when his tires, which had been recently installed, began falling off the vehicle. He said he was in a parking lot waiting for a tow, and he asked the police to witness the damage so he could provide evidence to the business that installed the tires. Police went to the scene, observed the free-wheeling tires, and logged the incident. Downed cable wires were reported at 5:04 p.m. on Still River Road. An officer was dispatched and moved the wires. Police gave someone a ride home from Dunkin’ Donuts on Ayer Road at 5:30 p.m. so the person would not have to walk in the snowstorm. At 6:57 p.m. a caller reported a vehicle in the Still River post office parking lot that was impeding snowplowing. The vehicle was gone when police arrived.
Monday, Feb. 13
At 10:37 a.m. an accident occurred in the parking lot at 285 Ayer Road, which police said was not adequately plowed. A vehicle became stuck in the snow at the parking lot entrance, and while attempting to free the car, the driver backed into a car on Ayer Road. Both drivers refused medical treatment, and both cars were towed. The driver who was stuck in the snow was cited for failure to use care.
