Boys swim meet canceled, girls have strong performance at sectionals

February 16, 2017

The Bromfield girls swim team competed at the Winter 2017 Girls Central/South Swimming and Diving Sectional Tournament on Saturday, Feb. 11. The girls placed 27th out of 40 schools, with 19 points. The boys meet was canceled due to snow on Sunday.

Coach Tammy Russell reported that the standout performance for the meet came from senior Catherine Cooper, who came in fifth in the 50-yard freestyle out of 37 swimmers, improving her best time from 26.17 seconds to 25.06 seconds and netting Bromfield 14 of its 19 points for the meet.

“It was a great day at the pool,” said Russell. “All the girls swam well and took time off [of their personal records].”
The girls will next compete Feb. 18 and the boys Feb. 19 at the MIAA Division II state meets, which will be held at Boston University.
