This week police made six traffic stops, which resulted in two citations and four verbal warnings. They also assisted one motorist with a disabled vehicle and helped two people get into inadvertently locked cars. In addition, they responded to one request for an outdoor cooking fire and another for an agricultural burn permit. The ambulance crew responded to one medical emergency and took one person to the hospital.
Tuesday, Nov. 29
Someone called at 11:12 a.m. to report a large tree caught in a live power line on Littleton Road. National Grid was notified. At 7:54 p.m. an Old Shirley Road resident called to say a deer had been struck by a car nearby and was lying on the side of the road, still alive. The person called back a short time later to say the deer had run off. An officer checked the area but did not find the deer.

A resident stopped at the station at 5:51 p.m. to file a report about money stolen by way of a fraudulent website.
Thursday, Dec. 1
At 9:39 a.m. a caller reported a box truck unloading boxes in a hazardous location on Old Shirley Road. An officer went to the area and found that the postal worker who was delivering packages was about to move on. A patrol officer stopped on Littleton Road at 11:42 a.m. to remove a downed tree from the roadway. A 911 caller reported a large group of donkeys loose on Bolton Road, near East Bare Hill Road. An officer familiar with the nearby donkey farm contacted the owner, who had the animals rounded up by the time the officer arrived. A resident stopped at the station at 2:23 p.m. to report a case of identity theft.
Friday, Dec. 2
An officer on patrol stopped on Prospect Hill Road at 6:45 a.m. to direct traffic while the driver of a tractor-trailer truck loaded a large piece of equipment onto the trailer. A motorist called at 1:18 p.m. to report suspicions that she was being followed on Mass. Ave. by someone driving a black truck with gold markings. She then reported that the truck had pulled onto Fairbank Street. After locating the truck and speaking with the driver, an officer determined there was nothing sinister afoot. The officer also spoke with the person who called and offered assurance that the other driver was not following her. A motorist called at 7:55 p.m. to report striking a deer on Orchard Hill. The caller said the deer had run off, but the car’s bumper suffered a minor crack.
Saturday, Dec. 3
A patrol officer stopped on Depot Road at 11:13 a.m. to check out two unoccupied vehicles parked on the roadway. The officer reported the cars likely belonged to people hunting in the area. At 12:24 p.m. a caller reported a tree down on Mass. Ave. An officer removed the tree. At 5:37 p.m. the state police called to ask Harvard officers to watch for a car they had observed driving erratically on Route 2. The caller said the car had exited Route 2 at Ayer Road and was last seen at Dunkin’ Donuts. Police searched near Dunkin’ Donuts but did not locate the vehicle. A Still River Road resident called at 6:44 p.m. to speak with an officer about a disturbing phone call received by a family member. Police say that after speaking with the person who received the call, they determined it was likely a prank. A Granite View Lane resident called at 7:20 p.m. to report hearing gunshots or small explosions nearby. Police checked the area but heard nothing and did not find a source for the sounds. A motorist called 911 at 7:22 p.m. to report striking a deer on Still River Road near Turner Lane. The caller reported that the car was drivable but that the deer was dead. The Department of Public Works was notified to remove the carcass.
Sunday, Dec. 4
At 8:25 a.m. a patrol officer noticed a leak coming from a gas pump at the DPW; the officer notified the DPW accordingly. A Brown Road resident called at 1:23 p.m. to report hearing gunshots behind the home. After investigating, police found that the gunfire was coming from a Bolton residence where the owner was target shooting on a lawful firing range in his backyard.
Monday, Dec. 5
A motorist called at 7:19 a.m. to report striking a guardrail on Mass. Ave. after skidding in the snow. The driver was not injured; damage to the car was minor. Someone called at 7:29 a.m. with suspicions about a vehicle parked near a field on Depot Road. The car was gone when police arrived to investigate. A motorist called 911 at 8:17 a.m. to report having a minor accident with another vehicle on Ayer Road near Lancaster County Road. Police say one car was in the process of turning left when the car following didn’t slow enough and struck it from behind. No one was injured; damage was minor, according to police. Someone stopped at the station at 5:43 p.m. to report a missing purse, either lost or stolen.
