This week police made one traffic stop, which resulted in a verbal warning. They also assisted one motorist with a disabled vehicle and responded to one request for an outdoor cooking fire and one request for an agricultural burn permit. The ambulance crew responded to three medical emergencies and took three people to the hospital, one with Advanced Life Support on board.

Tuesday, Nov. 22
At 9:04 a.m. a patrol officer stopped to investigate an unoccupied car parked at the end of Depot Road and found that it belonged to someone hunting nearby. A Littleton County Road resident called at 3:48 p.m. to report that a white car had struck a tree nearby and left, headed toward Littleton. Harvard police did not locate the car but advised Littleton police to watch for it. A motorist called at 4:42 p.m. to report hitting a deer. An officer went to the scene and had to euthanize the animal. The driver was not injured, and no tow was required. A Littleton Road resident called at 6:13 p.m. to report a downed cable wire. Charter Communications was notified.
Wednesday, Nov. 23
At 9:05 a.m. someone called to report concerns about a suspicious-looking person wearing high-visibility clothing walking near Trail Ridge Way. The person was gone when police arrived to investigate. Someone from a doctor’s office on Ayer Road called at 10:31 a.m. to report the potential for an incident with a patient. Police say no incident actually occurred.

Friday, Nov. 25
At 10:08 a.m. a Bromfield School official called to report that the rock in front of the school had been vandalized, painted with threatening symbols and hate speech. According to a press release issued by the Harvard Police the next day, police are working closely with the school superintendent and the Massachusetts attorney general’s office to investigate the incident (See article). A caller reported at 10:25 a.m. that a tree was leaning on some wires on Whitney Road. Police say the tree did not pose an immediate hazard. The Department of Public Works was contacted to take down the tree, and Verizon was notified about the threat to the wires. Someone called at 7:43 p.m. to report suspicions about a car parked in front of the Bromfield School. Police spoke to the occupants of the car and asked them to move along.
Saturday, Nov. 26
A caller reported hearing the sound of fireworks in the vicinity of Littleton County Road at 7:19 p.m. Police say the noise was from fireworks at an event taking place in Littleton. Someone called 911 at 8:20 p.m. to report concerns about a vehicle in the roadway on Still River Road, with two or three people standing nearby. Police say the car had a flat tire, and the occupants were in the process of taking care of it.

Monday, Nov. 28
Someone called at 4:15 p.m. with concerns about a dog possibly in distress in a barn on Lancaster County Road. The animal control officer was notified. The Harvard Fire Department was called at 6:19 p.m. to assist at a structure fire in Ayer.
