Flu clinic
Nashoba Nursing will be at St. Theresa’s Church Tuesday, Oct. 18, from 9 to 11 a.m. to offer flu shots for seniors. There will be no blood pressure checks that day.
Computer support
and workshops
COA’s computer gurus will be on hand each Tuesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the computer lab at the old library for help and suggestions about working with your computer. To minimize wait time, please call to schedule an appointment.
Workshop sessions focusing on specific topics are held Friday afternoons at 1 p.m.
• Oct. 7 – Mac basics.
• Oct. 14 – Introduction to Google
Older and wiser driving
On Wednesday, Nov. 2, at 10:30 a.m. learn what you need to know to be a wiser driver as you age. The 60-minute program titled “The Older and Wiser Driver” will present practical information on how seniors can compensate for the physical changes that affect their ability to drive. The free presentation focuses on vision, cognition, physical fitness, and side effects of common medications.
Halloween, an American holiday
Following lunch at St. Theresa’s on Thursday, Oct. 20, join the COA and author Lesley Bannatyne for a special presentation on the history of Halloween. Bannatyne, one of country’s foremost authorities on Halloween, has written extensively on the subject, has appeared on the History Channel, and has contributed articles to Time, Slate, and National Geographic magazines.
Watercolor classes
A new four-week watercolor class will be offered at the old library Tuesdays, 1:30 to 3 p.m. The first session will be Tuesday, Oct. 18. The instructor will be Karen Dolimount. The fee is $5 for all four weeks. Class size is limited.
Upcoming events
Events in the works for November are a podiatry clinic, a AAA driving course, a spa day, a veterans breakfast, a turkey (aka Thanksgiving) dinner, and Harvard’s artisan multi-media gallery show and fundraiser.
