This week police made seven traffic stops, which resulted in four citations and three verbal warnings. They also assisted one motorist with a disabled vehicle and helped another get back into an inadvertently locked car. The ambulance crew responded to five medical emergencies and took three people to the hospital, one with Advanced Life Support on board; two people refused treatment or transport to the hospital.

Wednesday, Sept. 28
A Littleton County Road resident called at 10:15 a.m. to complain about people shooting on the gun range at the Harvard Sportsman’s Club too early in the morning. The caller was told to contact the club and also to voice concerns with the selectmen. A motorist called at 1:13 p.m. to report a car swerving all over Ayer Road. Police did not locate the vehicle. At 2:51 p.m. a caller reported an accident on Ayer Road near Lancaster County Road. Police say that a car traveling on Ayer Road had signaled to make a right turn at the post office, and the driver of a FedEx truck traveling behind it thought the car was turning onto Lancaster County Road, so pulled out to pass and struck it. Damage to both vehicles was minor. The truck driver was cited for failure to use care in starting and stopping. A motorist called at 3:23 p.m. to report concerns that a school bus parked on Ayer Road with children on board appeared to have no driver inside. The bus was gone from the area when police arrived to investigate. An Ayer Road resident called at 5:57 p.m. about a dispute over some cut wood. Police say that National Grid had cut some trees near the caller’s residence and left the wood there at the resident’s request. A passerby saw the wood and, assuming it was available, began to remove it. The responding officer spoke to both parties, and the passerby agreed to leave the remaining wood behind.
Thursday, Sept. 29
An East Bare Hill Road resident called at 11:19 a.m. to report that a yellow Lab with a blue collar and no tags had followed her home. The animal control officer was notified and was later able to reunite the dog with its owner. A motorist called at 12:43 p.m. to report that a large tree had fallen across the roadway on Tahanto Trail. The Department of Public Works was notified and removed the tree. A Harvard patrol officer who happened to be in Bolton at 2:11 p.m. came across a tree removal crew on Still River Road operating without a police detail. The officer notified Bolton police and stood by to direct traffic until they arrived. At 4:44 p.m. a motorist called 911 to report a car being driven aggressively on Oak Hill Road. The caller said the car had passed her in a no-passing zone and its driver yelled at her as he drove by. The car was gone from the area when police arrived.
Friday, Sept. 30
Someone stopped at the station at 2:27 p.m. to report a possible bullying incident at the high school. A resident on St. John Lane called at 9:54 p.m. to report that someone had rung the doorbell and run off. Officers checked the area but found no one.
Saturday, Oct. 1
Someone called at 1:18 p.m. to report a single-car accident on Ayer Road near Myrick Lane. Police say that when rounding a corner, the car started hydroplaning because of excessive speed and struck a utility pole, snapping it in two. The driver was cited for speeding, and the car was towed. The driver refused medical treatment and transport to the hospital. At 11:58 a.m. a caller reported that a passing pickup truck had lost a trash bag on Stow Road. An officer moved the bag to the side of the road and notified DPW to remove it.
Sunday, Oct. 2
An officer on patrol at 2:29 a.m. stopped to tell the occupants of a car parked at the Prospect Hill overlook that the area was not open to the public after dark, and asked them to move along.
Monday, Oct. 3
A Madigan Lane resident stopped at the station at 12:09 p.m. to report a larceny by false pretenses. The person claimed that a contractor had been paid to do some work at the residence but had not shown up to perform the work and could not be reached. Police are investigating. An Old Littleton Road resident called at 1:25 p.m. to report another in what seemed to be a string of suspicious incidents at the home. The caller said that, this time, an unknown person had turned on an outside water faucet.
