Thelma M. Bobzin, 89, of 76 Old Mill Road, died Thursday, June 16, 2016, at her residence. Her husband, Warren C. Bobzin, died in 2003.
Thelma was born in Grant Park, Illinois, on May 12, 1927, a daughter of the late John C. and Augusta (Post) Krech, and grew up there, graduating from Grant Park High School in 1945.
Before marrying Warren in November 1950, Thelma worked at the Boston Store in Chicago in the recently established TV department. Thelma was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed knitting many sweaters for her family.
During her retirement in Harvard, Thelma enjoyed reading and working the Boston Globe crossword daily. She was able to successfully transfer her allegiance to the Boston Red Sox and watched many games on television. This year, Easter dinner was served at her home in April, and the family enjoyed a celebration of her 89th birthday in May. Her family feels fortunate to always have the love and memories she created.
She leaves a son, Jeffery J. Bobzin, and his wife, Ruth, of Harvard; three grandchildren, Jay Brendon Bobzin, Corey Lee Bobzin, and Rachel Bobzin, and several nephews and nieces. She is predeceased by her husband, four brothers, and two sisters.
A private graveside service will be held in the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida. There are no calling hours. The Anderson Funeral Home, 25 Fitchburg Road, Ayer, is assisting the family with the funeral arrangements.
