Absentee ballots available
Absentee ballots for the April 12 Town Election are available at the town clerk’s office. Voters who will be out of town during polling hours on April 12 or who will be unable to vote in person due to physical disability or religious belief may request an absentee ballot. Visit www.harvard.ma.us/Pages/HarvardMA_Clerk/ab for more detail or for an application. The deadline to request a ballot is April 11 at noon. If your ballot must be mailed, allow extra time for mail delivery. Ballots must be received by the town clerk before the close of polls on election day. Ballots may not be hand carried out of the office.
Celebration online auction ends April 10

Lions Club offers service scholarship
The Harvard Lions Club invites Bromfield seniors to apply for its annual Community Service Award. Students wishing to be considered for this monetary award should visit harvardlions.org for details and an application. Information is also available in the school guidance office.
Tax amnesty program
The Massachusetts Department of Revenue (DOR) has begun its 2016 Tax Amnesty Program that will last until May 31. The program offers the opportunity to catch up on back taxes and save on penalties and is available to individuals and businesses. The goal of the tax amnesty program is to bring those taxpayers who have failed to file or have underreported their taxes into compliance. More information is available at mass.gov/taxamnesty.
Judges needed for Bromfield senior project presentations
Bromfield seniors are required to complete 40 hours of community service that culminates in a presentation of their projects to a panel of community members. Up to 40 community members are needed to serve on these panels Wednesday, April 27, from 1 to 4 p.m. to provide feedback on students’ presentation skills and project content. Preparation for being a community reviewer is minimal. By participating, reviewers will see six to eight presentations. 36th annual Senior Conference
Senator Jamie Eldridge has announced that the 36th annual Senior Conference will be held Thursday, April 21, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School, 215 Fitchburg Street in Marlborough. The conference, which is free for seniors, will feature a variety of services, workshops, food, and entertainment. New league website will publish candidate information
VOTE411.ORG is a national platform that the League of Women Voters offers to local leagues to publish information about candidates. This year, Harvard’s League is piloting this site and is grateful to all the candidates who have supplied information about themselves and answered questions on the site. In addition to information about local candidates, the site includes links to register to vote and to find out registration status.
The League reminds residents that voting is the most powerful way to have their voices heard. Learn where Harvard candidates running for office stand on the issues at VOTE411.ORG, then be sure to vote on election day, April 12, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., at the Bromfield cafeteria.
