Absentee ballots available

Absentee ballots for the April 12 Town Election are now available at the town clerk’s office. Voters who will be out of town during polling hours on April 12 or who will be unable to vote in person due to physical disability or religious belief may request an absentee ballot. Visit www.harvard.ma.us/Pages/HarvardMA_Clerk/ab for more detail or for an application. The deadline to request a ballot is April 11 at noon. If your ballot must be mailed, allow extra time for mail delivery. Ballots must be received by the town clerk before the close of polls on election day. Ballots may not be hand carried out of the office.


Online auction opens April 1 to benefit Celebration

Celebration’s online auction opens at www.bromfieldcelebration.com at 8 p.m. on Friday, April 1, and closes at 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 10. Among the offerings are Red Sox tickets, gift certificates, tuxedos, and flowers. All proceeds benefit Celebration, Bromfield’s substance-free after-prom party. Payment and pickup time information is online.


Celebration fundraiser with Roche Bros

Purchase Roche Bros. gift cards from the Celebration website (bromfieldcelebration.com) and Roche Bros. will donate 5 percent of sales to Celebration, Bromfield’s after-prom party. Gift cards are in $50 or $100 denominations and must be purchased online before April 5. Or shop at Roche Bros. Thursday, April 7 from 4 to 7 p.m. and Roche Bros. will donate 5 percent of proceeds to Celebration.



Judges needed for Bromfield senior project presentations

Bromfield seniors are required to complete 40 hours of community service that culminates in a presentation of their projects to a panel of community members. Up to 40 community members are needed to serve on these panels Wednesday, April 7, from 1 to 4 p.m. to provide feedback on students’ presentation skills and project content. Preparation for being a community reviewer is minimal. By participating, reviewers will see six to eight presentations. Bromfield Baseball April vacation camp


Bromfield’s baseball program will run a camp for students in grades 2 through 6 April 19 to 21, 9 a.m. to noon at the Ryan Land playing fields on Depot Road. The camp will focus on baseball fundamentals including throwing, fielding, hitting, pitching, and baserunning. It will be staffed by Bromfield Head Coach Lonnie Quirion and his high school team players. All abilities and experience levels are welcome to attend. More details at http://harvardbaseball.org.


Ginny Thurston scholarship available to Bromfield seniors

The Board of Selectmen will offer financial assistance to Bromfield seniors through the Ginny Thurston Scholarship Fund. Interested students should write to the selectmen’s office at 13 Ayer Road by Friday, May 6, listing their community and extracurricular activities along with what college or university they will attend. More information is available at the selectmen’s office and the Bromfield guidance office.


Sarah Watson scholarship available to college students

Financial assistance is available to second- and third-year college students from trust funds left to the town by Sarah Watson. Applications are available at the selectmen’s office or at the town website on the Board of Selectmen/Town Administrator page. Applications must be submitted by July 1. The trustee of the Sarah Watson Trust will make final decisions on scholarship awards by early summer.
