The Bromfield varsity girls lacrosse team crushed neighboring Littleton at a home game on Thursday, April 14, 16–1.

The game started with a struggle on the draw, with Littleton gaining possession and racing down the field, only to have its shot blocked by Bromfield goalie Emily Padrogni of Parker Charter School, whose lacrosse players are members of the Harvard team. Bromfield was able to take the ball back up the field, and sophomore Cara Olejarz netted the first goal of the game.
Littleton again attempted to score, and once again Padrogni made an impressive save, allowing Bromfield to pass up the field for a goal by junior Meaghan Parlee. Parlee was able to score twice after that as well, increasing Bromfield’s lead to 4–0.
But Littleton wasn’t ready to call the game a loss. Littleton pushed its advantage when Bromfield lost the draw, bringing the ball dangerously deep in Bromfield territory. Littleton called a timeout most likely to consider how they were going to sink the ball into Bromfield’s goal, while the Bromfield girls took full advantage of this time to catch their breath and get ready to score again. After the timeout, Parlee scooped up the ball and ran it down the field for another goal.
Bromfield was able to net another five goals before halftime, when the Trojans switched goalies, giving senior Maddie Ragno a chance to play the position in anticipation of Padrogni’s absence from games played during spring break.
Bromfield returned from halftime ready to continue its win, but Littleton was energized as well. After Bromfield scored its 11th goal, Littleton shot and scored what would be its only goal of the game. Bromfield went on to net another four goals and closed the game 16–1.
Bromfield played the game strong on both the defensive and offensive fronts. Goalie Padrogni shut out Littleton for the first half, and Ragno allowed only a single goal for the second, a performance that was instrumental in Bromfield’s success. Parlee also had an incredible game on attack and midfield, taking seven shots and scoring five goals. Seventh-grader Izzy Planchet also played strongly, shooting four times and scoring three goals.
After the game, senior captain Turchetta reaffirmed the message Coach Dave Planchet had delivered at the first game of the season, saying, “I see great things ahead [in our season], and I see the state championships.”
