Voter registration deadline
The deadline for this year’s Annual Town Meeting and Town Election is Wednesday, March 16. The town clerk’s office will be open 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
End-of-season sale at Bargains in the Belfry
End-of-season sales are taking place at Bargains in the Belfry, upstairs at the Harvard Unitarian church. All items are currently discounted by 30 percent. The discount will be 50 percent March 20 through March 29. Items include men’s and women’s sweaters, jerseys, jackets, and slacks, plus a tuxedo or two and some women’s evening wear. The shop is open Tuesdays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and after the church service Sunday, March 20.
Mud season
and Harvard trails
Mud season has started and trails are vulnerable to potholes, rutting, and erosion. Horseback riders and bicyclists should stay off town trails until they firm up. Trail walkers and runners are advised that some sections may be impassable and that traffic skirting wet spots widens muddy areas; so staying on the existing trails is important. A good trail option this time of year is the new running track through the woods at Harvard Park. It is open to all and is built with drainage and a compacted surface.
When the ground is drier, horseback riding and biking will be permitted on the primary (yellow) trails unless otherwise marked. Fields are protected for wildlife and agricultural use, so pass around the periphery of fields if there is no trail. Harvard Woman’s Club scholarship applications
Applications for this year’s Harvard Woman’s Club scholarship awards are due April 28. Upcoming Bromfield School graduates and Harvard residents graduating from other public schools are eligible. The application form is available at http://bit.ly/1QACIe2 or by emailing HWC@terriau.org.

Workshops for adult learners
Mount Wachusett Community College is offering free workshops this spring for adult learners interested in earning a college degree. The workshops are designed to guide adult learners through the steps of applying for college and financial aid, selecting courses, managing coursework, and balancing school with work and family life.
