Massachusetts has 4,500 homeless families living in shelters and motels. There are a number of homeless children living with their families in a motel in Leominster. Life in a motel limits the children’s access to outside play and family dinners; the organization Help For Homeless Children was formed to enrich their lives.
Rollstone Bank & Trust has donated $1,000 to the organization to help with their efforts, which include a weekly sit-down dinner at the Boys & Girls Club in Leominster. The cost for each Tuesday night dinner is $300 for food and transportation.
“RBT is happy to donate to the Help for Homeless Children charity,” said Martin F. Connors, Jr., President & CEO of Rollstone Bank & Trust. “They provide such a valuable service for the kids in our area, and community is what this bank stands for.”
Robert Doucette, President and Director of Help For Homeless Children, said, “On average, 100 guests are served each Tuesday night. The families are picked up at the motel, brought to the club, eat dinner, and are then returned to the motel. It’s a wonderful break for these children and their mothers living in one motel room, seven days a week.”
